Lojban In General

Lojban In General

Hey guys,
I was wondering what the position on creating a book to comprehensively teach lojban, and maybe some of the history/ideas behind it was. I know we have What is Lojban? and also the formal reference grammar, but "what is..." seems introductory, and Formal Reference has admitted that it wasn't intended to educate.

Thoughts/Criticisms?

Well, there is a "Lojban for Beginners" course:
http://ptolemy.tlg.uci.edu/~opoudjis/lojbanbrochure/lessons/book1.html<http://ptolemy.tlg.uci.edu/%7Eopoudjis/lojbanbrochure/lessons/book1.html>;
that could work as a starting point.

What is the position? I think the position is that you should go right
ahead and do it!

Great!
I was thinking I would model it out of the Formal Reference Grammar (and now the "Lojban for Beginners" text) for content, and for the style use the aggregate of positive things I have seen in language books, such as written discussion, many interspersed activities, audio and visual aids, and extra review materials. However, if other people have feedback, that would be great--this is not a one person task, and I am likely to botch things on my own! I'll begin a vague outline for general examination tomorrow.
Thanks,
Liam

What is tagalog called by native speakers of tagalog?

i have been toying lately with the idea of doing a podcast. i have some material ideas, and would focus on translated texts, lojbanistan news, vocab, and a grammar principle per day (though i am not yet fluent). does anyone know how what it takes to make a podcast? my friend has a mike, but i know nothing about how the process works. input would be helpful, so we can have a podcast going while eppcott is on hiatus.

That would be great...If you could examine the outline I'll be sending out soon, and suggest changes, that would be a great help. I will need to know more about what should appear in a language guide, since my knowlege comes from the student end.

Also, I think the podcast idea makes sense, I'm not sure but their might be one on lojban.org, though that shouldn't stop you. I would be interested in seeing if parts of the podcasts could be used as audio.

alright, i am happy to help review the guide and give input. this will be a
great project. lojban.org does have a podcast, but it was stopped because the
podcaster (eppcott) had other things come up in his life and has to resolve
them, which means the podcast he did is on hiatus. i plan on doing a
different podcast, so as not to tread on his toes if he picks it up again. also, the
one he did is not currently downloadable for some reason, so if anyone has
the 3rd and 4th episodes on mp3, please send them my way. i will attempt the
first one on saturday, and hopefully get it out soon after.

I have episodes 1, 2 and 3, but was not aware there was a 4th. They're too
big for email so if there's somewhere I can put them (anyone remember what

the 4th was the lojbanic phone group recording, not technically a podcast. i have 1 and 2. i think you could fit 3 by itself onto an email. i would appreciate that a lot. if not, do you have a website you could put it onto? my friend and i are collaberating for writing the first of our podcast tonight, introducing lojban, and maybe explaining some of the base workings and features of it. any contribution of ideas for episodes is welcome. i plan on doing grammar explainations, texts, music when available, and hopefully some news too (maybe from the nuzban website if they will let me). i will think more as i write the script.

Story time recordings are on the site, somewhere... The 3rd podcast is
mostly a large recording from logfest, so is about 17mb. Just a bit big for
email.

the 4th was the lojbanic phone group recording, not technically a podcast. i have 1 and 2. i think you could fit 3 by itself onto an email. i would appreciate that a lot. if not, do you have a website you could put it onto? my friend and i are collaberating for writing the first of our podcast tonight, introducing lojban, and maybe explaining some of the base workings and features of it. any contribution of ideas for episodes is welcome. i plan on doing grammar explainations, texts, music when available, and hopefully some news too (maybe from the nuzban website if they will let me). i will think more as i write the script.
