    Author Frank Roger has expressed interest in someone translating his
    story "Burning" into Lojban. I told him the effort we put into
    translation is already stretched too thin, and that most effort goes
    into the language debugging committee instead. But I saw no harm in
    passing it around and seeing if anyone is interested.

    I shouldn't have tried to make lujvo on the fly!

    I tried to translate "horizon" with {viska jimte}. Maybe {visyjimte}
    would have been correct as {vi’ajimte} has no consonant cluster in the
    first five letters.

    I like this idea. Community translations seem like they would be fun. Do
    we have other projects being translated like this also? I would love to
    participate in them.

    There's a community translation of alice in wonderland. The translation is
    complete, but there's always proofreading. There's also a translation of the
    bible (from KJV?) which is very much a work in progress.

    Yes, we always have the BPFK definitions that nobody wants to do.
    As soon as those get finished, the dictionary gets published, and then we unfreeze.
    Then we can start doing publicity and stuff.

    Matt, do you know if there's a published version on the net? If we
    want to initiate a Community Translation we would need to post his
    story on the net that is something we need his approval to do.

    Why not finished what we've started.  There are lots of translations done
    or started already, but very few actually proofread.

    To my knowledge, only The Berenstain Bears, The Little Prince and Esther
    have been proofread by one or more people.  Proofreading doesn't require
    enormous skill.  Just someone to question every doubtful word, and the originator
    to explain or change.

    But if translation is what sets you afire, well...The Prophet was started and
    abandoned after about 25%.

    And for the really experienced gurus who want a real challenge, why not - once
    and for all - help finish off those BPFK cmavo definitions?

    If Alice In Wonderland is a community translation then why can't we edit it
    on the wiki? It has typos and a ton of errors. Last time I tried to fix some
    the wiki didn't give me the option.

    He completely accepts this story being published on the web. Some
    authors make certain of their stories into promotional freebies.

    Personally, if I do translation efforts, it will be focused on
    finishing Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet, on the wiki.
