I made myself a little Lojban project to keep me amused. You can check it
out here.
http://rebol.vlexo.net/Programming/lojban/lojban_alphabet.htm I hope to
expand on this theme into different learning areas as my knowledge of the
language improves.

That's cool!

I wonder though why some consonants are pronounced with an {y} and
some not. Similarily, why are some vowels pronounced long and some
short?

I'm still getting to grips with the pronunciation (which I roped my wife
into doing for me). If you would like to submit a more professional sounding
phonetic alphabet, diphthongs, numbers or whatever, go for it :-) Just record
it in one go, I can slice and dice it up on my side.

When it's a little more presentable, I would be honoured to have it featured
on lojban.org.

Leon.

Leon,

I have recorded a pronunciation WAV file and will send it to you off-list.

That's great, Leon, especially as one of Google top related searches for
"lojban" is "lojban pronunciation".

Would it be possible to make an ECMAScript (JavaScript) version for
people without Flash, as some Linux users don't install Flash, and
several popular mobile devices are shipped without it too?

Got the WAV, thanks.

I will see what I can do about making a DHTML version.

Thanks again,
Leon.

I liked your wife's voice btw. Is there a way to edit her samples to
reflect what Matt wants?

Sure, especially now that I have something to compare to. I've been thinking
about having the option of switching between speakers. It would of course
mean increased file size, but if the demand is great enough then I'll
implement it at some point.

BTW, the updated version is available :-)

Leon.

Thanks, Leon. I also included pronunciation of the word "Lojban", with
which non-Lojbanists consistently have problems. I think that would be
an excellent key on your keyboard, when you have the time.

Alternate voices would be cool.

Having it be able to do words would be awesome too.
