Posted by pdf23ds on Sun 29 of Jun, 2008 06:42 GMT posts: 143 This probably doesn't matter, practically speaking, but in the sentence da broda be de be'o di , is {di} in place 2 or 3 of broda? Jboski says 3, and my parser agrees, but I wanted to make sure. Chris Capel -- "What is it like to be a bat? What is it like to bat a bee? What is it like to be a bee being batted? Is {de} the x3 of broda, because the selbri {broda be di} is already reduced by one place, so that its x2 is the x3 of broda? mu'o mi'e xorxes To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to lojban-list-request@lojban.org with the subject unsubscribe, or go to http://www.lojban.org/lsg2/, or if you're really stuck, send mail to secretary@lojban.org for help.

Well, both Lojgloss and jbofi'e assign de to x3, but not for the reason you give (at least in the case of Lojgloss). My algorithm starts filling places of "broda" with the linkargs first, starting at the second place, so first di is assigned x2, then da x1, and then de x3, because it's the next open place. Thus {da fe de broda be di} assigns de to the x2 of broda, where under your interpretation it would be the x3 of broda, being the x2 of {broda be di}. (Jbofi'e once again agrees with Lojgloss.) Although you can't always trust jbofi'e. After all, in "da broda de fe di it assigns de to the X3 place, but the refgram (chapter 9, 3.9) specifically says that both "de" and "di" should be the f2 places. I'm not sure what the rule is with "be"-implicitly-tagged places would/should be, though. --gejyspa (and yeah, I did comment on jbogloss 2.0.0, saying that on Windows XP it was giving me a windows error message when I tried to run it...)
