Australian poetic movement, ca 1938/1948, distinguished by its attempt to "become indigenous" by using a smattering of words from Aboriginal languages, and the concept of the Dreamtime. Basically, they felt that up until that time, Australian poets had been viewing their land through a filter of European diction, metaphors, and attitudes; and they wanted to show it as it really was, experienced by settlers with the same authenticity as the people who were already there when they arrived.
