Posted by Anonymous on Sun 24 of Aug, 2008 23:15 GMT Volunteer position: BPFK Task Master 1 hr / week or less No Lojban qualifications or skills necessary The BPFK is the committee charged with actually finishing the Lojban baseline (in particular, getting sensible cmavo definitions finished). This project is arguably the most important thing the Logical Language Group does, since many projects, such as the dictionary, cannot be completed until the BPFK is done. The committee is currently suffering from a serious lack of momentum. This problem is primarily due to the fact that we lack a task master. Without short-term goals to work towards, the perception that the committee is on hiatus is essentially self-fulfilling and self-perpetuating. The responsibility is, in brief, to look at the current state of affairs about once a week, and do one of the following: 1. Picking a new section to work on, essentially at random. 2. Calling a vote on the current section. 3. Closing a vote on the current section and reporting the results. This means also doing option #1. 4. Sending mail to inactive members exhorting them to actually do some work for a change. We specifically do *not* want this person to get involved in the actual BPFK work or discussion! Everyone who has done that has gotten bogged down in it and started neglecting the organizational side. No Lojban skill whatsoever is a *plus*. If someone can step up to the plate here, it would make a huge long-term difference to the language.
