While waiting to see if things are being posted to the beginners list I thought I'd put my request here. I'm a bear of very little brain when it comes to computers, and I'm having great trouble trying to get SuperMemo6 running in dosbox on my Linux machine. If anyone can point me at some instructions I'd be most grateful, everything I've read (about 20 pages so far) says to run SM6 and import a text file, but nothing I've tried seems to work. In the meantime, I've implemented the algorithm in a very simple Python script. However, it needs feeding. I've got the huge input list of lojban/English words (thanks again Robin) but it's simply too big. I need to get an initial vocabulary. So what lojban words should a beginner learn first? Numbers from 1 to 10 me, you, them, imperative, this, that house, think, give, bridi negation, like, have, A few indicators Perhaps I just need to use the frequency lists from the logflash page(s), but really, what I need is for each person to take from their own personal active vocabulary just 3 to 5 words. Ideally I'd like them in this form: lojban:dunda:english:give english:rain:lojban:carvi english:never:lojban:ronai but anything will do. Please, don't send me huge lists taken from the files available. I have them. I'm looking for the words that you know, that you have to hand/mind, that you think of using. Please send them to me at either: lojban@solipsys colin.wright@denbridgemarine.com Thanks ---- In the meantime, I'm Australian, living and working in the North West of England, a mathematics Ph.D., and a unicyclist. I also give (oxymoron alert!) a popular science presentation on the theory of juggling, and you can see me on television two or three times a year in the OpenUniversity mathematics foundation course. If you want to see me, the "bookings" link below gives some of my engagements. I also sail dinghies and ballroom dance, although not at the same time. {img src="http://www.solipsys.co.uk/new/images/mills3.gif" imalign=right link=www.solipsys.co.uk/new desc="Mills Mess" alt="Mills Mess" usemap=name} And yes, I can juggle this pattern.
