Editing Wiki Pages

Please note that this Wiki does not use quite the same markup language as the old one did.

To edit a Wiki page, please log in at the box to the top right (if you don't have a user name, please register). You should then see a tab that says "Edit", either just below the page title or at the very bottom of the page, depending on what theme you are using. Click that to enter the editing interface.

You should be able to mostly just type whatever you want, but if you want to do anything complicated, either click the tab in the editing screen that says "Wiki Quick Help", or read WikiSyntax for more information.

As a stylistic note, since this Wiki is meant for content related to Lojban, and Lojban makes very little use of capital letters, and in fact tends to look ugly if you capitalize it, we'd like to standardize on the use of double parentheses, (( )), around links.

Features

  • A system that integrates a wiki, a web forum system, surveys, quizzes, FAQs, and on and on and on.
  • E-mail-to-forum gatewaying! You can now receive all changes to the WikiDiscuss forum as e-mails, and replying to them will cause a forum post to occur! Just subscribe to the WikiDiscuss list. If your mail program asks, you definately want to reply to the "Reply-To" address, not any others.
  • User-selectable "modules". Those are the things in the right and left sidebars with a big red X in their corners. You can use the arrows to move them up and down, or the red X to remove them altogether if you don't like them. You can configure them more carefully in the Modules page.
  • User-selectable themes, some of which are very pretty. Either use the "Style" dropdown box, which should be in the left sidebar at the bottom, or the Preferences page.
  • The shoutbox! Just type something in it, and everyone who comes to the site will see what you have to say, for a while at least.

Non-Features

There are a couple of things that I know people want that haven't been implemented yet. I may get around to them myself, or someone else on the dev team might.

You are more than welcome to add stuff here. If you do so, however, you should probably drop me an e-mail. You are also more than welcome to e-mail me if something on here has been sitting around for a while and you'd like to re-iterate your desire for it.

If you're not going to send an e-mail, at the very least say who you are! Yeesh.

  • Better comment handling.
    • A "Last Changes" module for comments.
  • Better e-mail notification features.
    • E-mail notification on any wiki page change.
    • E-mail notification on comments.
  • last changes page
    • See last n pages that changed instead of last n days
    • See only the last change for each page, rather than every recent change
    • An easy way to see the diff of a recent change (if there is one, I haven't found it; I end up loading the page, clicking "history", and clicking the first "d" link)
      • I'm very unclear as to why you think something so complicated should be a quick operation, but I"ll see what I can do.
        • Complicated? Perhaps on your end (if it is, sorry), but conceptually it's very simple. I have a list of Last Changes. Great. Now for one particular change, I want to see what was changed. Currently, I have to click on (hist) next to the change, and find the entry in the resulting list corresponding to the same change I just clicked on, and click "d" next to it. Because of the extra step involved, I'm already more reluctant to follow pages by looking at their diffs, which used to be very convenient.
          • My point was that diffs themselves are intrinsically complicated. You could just monitor pages you're interested in, you know. I mean in the sense of clicking the "Monitor This Page" button, or the little eye icon depending on your theme.
            • Ideally, we should be able to just go to the last diff from the last changes module, so that we don't even need to visit the last changes page. Usually for every page that changes, I just want to see how it changed, I don't want to read the whole page again. I want to monitor every page in this sense. What does Monitor This Page do? Does it send you the changes via email? (That would be nice.) Is it possible to set every page as Monitor This Page automatically? --xorxes
